Recurring events fill your calendar & save you time

In Preation’s February Eden code release, we made the ability to add recurring events available within the calendar module.  This is a wonderful enhancement that can save you both time and effort when it comes to adding events to your calendar.

Prior to this enhancement, if you wanted to add an event that repeated every week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, you had to manually enter in each event from week to week.  With recurring events, the work is done for you.

To utilize this feature follow these easy steps:

  1. Login to your Eden website.
  2. Click on the Calendar module.
  3. Click either “Add Event” or “Edit” an existing event.
  4. Fill out or edit all of the pertinent event information including the start and end date.
  5. Click the “Recurring Event?” check box.
  6. Click the check boxes of the corresponding days that you would like the event to repeat on.
  7. Click “Submit”.

Your event will now appear on your calendar on the dates that you selected until the end date of this particular event arrives.  Be sure to stay posted as more improvements to the calendar module are coming that will make it an even more powerful tool!

Do the undo

We’ve all been there, toiling away at a very important document on Microsoft Word, when all of a sudden it happens..”Oh no! I didn’t mean to delete that!”.   We breathe a sigh of relief when we realize that all is not lost.  Lo and behold, the undo button.  By hitting the undo button in your toolbar, you will undo the last action you performed.

This action can also be performed while editing a content element within Eden by using what’s known as a “hotkey”.  A hotkey is a keyboard shortcut that uses a finite set of one or more keys that invokes an operation when triggered by the user.  The hotkey for undo is Crtl+Z.

Now whenever you’re editing a content element, you can rest assured that if you accidentally delete some text that it is not lost and gone forever.

Eden Release Notes for Version 1.18

This week, we released some broad improvements across several key areas of Eden.

First, we’ve improved our Google Sitemap feature so that our clients can now register their website’s sitemap with Google in just one click. Eden creates a sitemap for their website automatically and registering the sitemap with Google completes the process. Our clients only have to do this once and from that point on Google will always know when they add new content to their website. Eden customers can register their sitemap with Google from the My Domains interface available from their Eden account dashboard.

With this release we’ve also completed a suite of features that allow web designers to build websites on Eden in standards-compliant XHTML and CSS. Designers and customers can click on the Theme Admin link at the top of any administrative interface to manage their themes and enable FTP access for their web designer. Web designers who are interested in becoming an Authorized Design partner on Eden may contact us.

Finally, when Eden customers log in we’re now automatically checking their web browser to ensure that they have the most recent version of Flash. If their browser is out of date they’re not getting the best Eden experience. Eden will now let our customers know when their version of flash is out of date and will provide them with a link so that they can quickly go get the most recent version of flash (which is free).

iFrame, iSaw, iConquered

Just in case you didn’t already know…Eden Platform is a website content management and optimization solution that allows entrepreneurs and marketers to easily build and maintain a highly optimized website that generates more business results.  Offered under a Software as a Service (SaaS) model, we regularly make enhancements and improvements to Eden allowing for greater organization, ease of use, and aesthetic presentation.  This month we have launched a series of improvements including the Eden Platform iFrame Element.

With this new element, you will be able to add outside content to any page of your Eden site through an iFrame.  iFrames are convenient because they allow you to contain the outside content within your website’s design.  For instance, real estate agents can use the iFrame element to display their MLS listings from a third-party service directly within their Eden Platform website.  Businesses that rely on third-party software to store images, products, documents, etc. can now have that data appear within the context of their own branded webpages.

Your online visitors will be able to view all the data you have to offer without being redirected away from your website.  Keeping your visitors on your website eliminates the potential for them to get distracted by marketing collateral found on outside websites.
